See Everything Clearer with Under Cabinet Lighting
When you are working away trying to create the perfect dinner in your kitchen,
your standard ceiling lights might be inadequate to illuminate your chopping
board, your preparation area or you reading the recipe book. In these instances,
under cabinet lighting would be the ideal solution to brighten up you kitchen counter or bench.
Under cabinet lighting is literally placed under the overhead kitchen cabinets
and the light shines down onto your bench space. This is a simple solution to
kitchen lighting as many people dine in the kitchen and it is unnecessary to have
stark, fluoro lights throughout the kitchen if it is only needed in one area. The
light can be concentrated to where you need it with this kind of light.
Also, known as task lighting, because it helps you with your tasks, under cabinet
lighting comes predominantly in two forms, strip lights or disc (puck) lights.
These can be attached directly to the underside of the cabinet or can be built
into a cabinet recess if you want the ’invisible’ look. Either is relatively
inexpensive as the build of the light is basic. Strip lights are used if the
entire bench needs to be illuminated. Disc lights are used if you want to be
more discerning with your light. You can light up certain areas of the
counter which are regularly used.
There is no issue with these lights as they feature strong halogen lights and
halogen bulbs last much longer than regular bulbs so you won't be constantly replacing
bulbs in your under cabinet lighting. In terms of brightness, even in
a pitch black room your bench is lit as if it is day. Under cabinet lighting is
extremely functional and will help you stop slicing your fingers at the chopping board.
