Tiffany Style Lamps Bring a Piece of Tiffany to You
The inimitable Tiffany Lamp, as created by Louis Tiffany at the turn of twentieth
century, has inspired a host of designers for the whole of the last century. Tiffany
himself created lights for forty years and his legacy allowed many designers to create
stylish, ornate and opulent lights until the present day. Tiffany style lamps have come
about to provide that unique style without the huge price.
With the originals highly collectable and sought after, you can find Tiffany style lighting
in most interior design shops as lights inspired by the originals. The key aspects in the
imitations are the same as in the original. The stained glass features very extensively,
in fact, if it were absent it would not be in a ‘Tiffany’ style. The defining aspects of
Tiffany lighting are so clear that to create any Tiffany-inspired lamps, it would have to
look like the real thing. Even, if a couple of features change like the joints being made
of enamel instead of copper then it fails to be Tiffany and immediately would be called Art
Nouveau style lighting. Great lighting all the same, but not like Tiffany.
The appeal of Tiffany is clear to see, the designs, the materials, the creativity. If you
are a designer and wanted to design lighting, it would be fun to create lighting in the
Tiffany style. Creating a normal lamp may be fun but to lovingly manufacture a light with
colored glass, bronze and hand painted elements would truly be gratifying. It would be the
difference between painting a wall and oil painting a canvas. The same discipline but a
different skill entirely.
Tiffany style lamps, good for the designer, great for the owner.
