Studio Lighting is Professional Lighting
Professional lighting for the studio is essential to the artist. If you are a
studio photographer you can eliminate more lines and blemishes with a good light
than you can with a ton of make-up. If you are a fashion designer you need to be
able to cut along the correct lines and make no mistakes, otherwise all that
expensive cloth is wasted. If you are recording a television programme, the
effects can be dull and lifeless without powerful, halogen studio lighting.
Studio lighting is different to most other lighting as there is no emphasis
on mood or style. It is purely a functional tool. To light the area as well
as possible, to assist the work carried out in the studio. The form in which
these lights come is varied. They can be wall mounted, ceiling mounted, on tracks
or free standing. As long as its pointing in the right direction with the switch
flicked to 'on', its working.
Filters can be placed over the lights to produce different colour effects or
diffusion but as the lights are so strong and the purpose is to light the area
as well as possible, these are rarely used. Normally, if those effects are needed,
custom studio lights are employed. In terms of lighting the artist always demands
consistency. If they want a 250 watt light. They want 250 watts every time its
turned on. Not 249 and not 251 but 250. If the desired effect is not achieved
then the project at hand may not be completed correctly.
Studio lighting is a powerful tool for the artist. It can make the results better
and the task much easier.
