Patio Lighting Makes Outdoor Entertaining Fun
The patio is the lounge room of the new millennium. Even though houses have multiple
rooms, people tend to socialize with their family and friends in the lounge and keep
them there. As more people move to apartment living and space is at a premium, the
young and socially minded spend much of their spare time on the patio having sundowners
on hot summer nights. As the sun sets the party doesn’t have to end so soon. Patio
lighting can make the evening go until morning if you have the energy and the inclination.
Along with gas burners for winter nights, patio lights, to illuminate your area, are the
outdoor accessory to have. With some nice outdoor furniture, nice lighting and good company
the patio is an extra room for your home. In spring and summer it is conceivable to spend a
lot of your day there if you have a barbeque too. It’s a kitchen, a lounge and diner all
rolled into one.
Patio lighting comes in various forms. Free-standing lamps which light a certain area are
popular as are wall-mounted spotlights and classic Victorian-style lanterns. The main element
to check for these lights are their resistance to water. Rain, snow and humidity can all play
havoc with lighting, so good patio lighting should weather all these storms. This is so when
it is time to go outside you can light up your play area. You don’t want to wait for several
days for the weather to break and then when you flick the switch you get nothing. You’ve
waited inside patiently, it needs to work.
Just don’t forget outdoor entertaining is fun if you have the climate for it.
