Fluorescent Lighting is an Efficient and Popular Lighting System
Fluorescent lighting is an efficient lighting system, which was used most commonly in
commercial complexes; the reason being is that it used to be available only in "colder"
colors of light rather than the accepted "warm" colors produced by incandescent light.
However recent technological advancements have produced a "warm" color for this lighting.
Though the initial cost of installing this light is higher, it is quite cost effective
in the long run. They are cheaper to operate and last much longer than a normal light.
These lights do not produce heat they produce 95% light and only 5% heat. This is because
the light is not produced by a hot filament (used in a normal incandescent light) but by
glowing phosphor crystals that are inside the tube. Thus the temperature in a room does
not go up at all. It remains relatively cool.
These lights use less electricity to produce the same amount of light as a normal light,
as a result there is a great reduction in the electricity bills. They have an average life
of about 10,000 hours, which means that you could use them for almost four years without
having to replace or change them. They are almost two to four times more efficient than a
normal incandescent light.
Fluorescent lighting produces a very soft light and reduces shadows to a minimum. They are
ideal for use in offices, homes, storage or utility areas, display cases, shops, in various
kinds of fixtures (ceiling lights, table lamps, spot lights etc) and for other general
lighting purposes. Their high efficiency, low heat production, low power consumption,
long life and bright light make them an ideal choice for any kind of lighting.
They are available in a variety of styles and designs at almost all leading lighting retailers.
